I devoured an invigorating article this week on The Next Era of Human-Machine Partnerships, (Dell Technologies, 2018). The report outlines and illustrates the impact technology will have on our everyday lives in the future. The Human-Machine Partnership is defined as a helping relationship between human and machine that causes the human to build a capacity in tools to improve their understanding in humans, society, and organizations; this will enable humans to engage meaningfully with emerging technologies. The capabilities of today's emerging technology will be the foundation for human-machine relationships by 2030. Human-Machines will not only help automate and coordinate lives, but they will also transform how organizations find talent, manage teams, deliver products and services, (Dell Technologies, 2018).

The article contained information about innovative technological drivers that will influence the next decade and recast our society and the way we conduct business, (Dell Technologies, 2018). It is forecasted that Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Virtual Reality,(VR), and Augmented Reality, (AR), and Cloud Computing will be amplified and normalized into daily society. Examples of the current use of these technologies and scenarios of the future use of emerging mechanization are described. One of the scenarios named A Day in the Life 2030, that peaked my fancy was the use of an AI Healthcare Home Robot. The Home Health Robot can take vital signs and diagnose health concern, order medicine to be sent to the home by drone, and pick up flowers and healthy snacks to the patient, all automated, EXAMPLE. This use of automated care is in its infancy but will become commonplace as we continue creating and innovating in society.

The article also discussed the impact the emerging technology on the individual and organizations. Individuals need to be willing to engage in-the-moment learning, have an entrepreneurial mindset, engage in personal brand cultivation, have learning agility, and have a nuanced understanding of culture, society, business, and people. Organizations need to have a skill set to build out technological capabilities to meet the ever-changing landscape of the future of work. It stated in the article, some of the work we are doing today will become obsolete in 3 to 5 years meeting these changes will mean Organizations will need to be nimble, secure, exceed expectations, have algorithmic and organizational value congruency, and inspire creativity and innovation.

I found this article exciting, inspiring, and frightening. I found the piece compelling and inspiring because I believe the willingness to change and adapt is vital to living a successful life, it is essential to be relevant in this world, and this piece is a validation of my personal belief. I also find this article frightening because despite my love of technology I have never thought of partnering with my devices. The word partnership connotes an intimacy and dependence on technology. I have no problem depending on another human being for love, friendship, to complete work but to partner with a robot, this is a new concept for me.
